SHOP TALK: This section is for current information regarding new products or services as they become available. Any and everything may be listed or talked about. We may cover installation of a product, new item that has been through testing, hints at servicing your unit, or relay some tips we have received from customers. We are always open to new ideas, so if you have something you feel may benefit others, email or call and we will consider it for this section. Anything to help others enjoy the sport!!!

Web Site Ordering:

Save $$ by ordering directly from our e-store. Items listed with reduced prices are for e-commerce sales only. Saves you time, phone charges, and allows you to order at your convenience. We save time, can process orders more efficiently, and leaves phone open to those who need tech advice. This is a win-win situation for everyone. Please do not call and expect same discount with your phone order.

ATV Riders:

We have a large selection of Dalton ATV clutch kits on the shelf and ready for shipment. These kits fit a wide variety of models from all the manufacturers and make a huge difference when installing aggressive tread tires or larger wheels. Restores the lost power and increases belt/clutch life. Check out kits under the ATV Section.

Walker Evans Shocks:

We are now handling Walker Evans shock components and our pricing will be very competitive as Polaris assumes a large mark-up when pricing to their dealers. We have been working on them for the past few seasons but as Polaris has put them on more models, we are starting to see more and more of them needing service and/or valving. This has created the need for a parts inventory so we can turn them through the service area in a timely manner. We will be increasing our inventory to match demand for needed parts.

Shock Service:

Here are some do's and don't's when sending in your shocks.

1. Remove shocks from sled, it is best to put eyelet collars and bolts back into mounting holes. This will make it easier at re-assembly. Any coil over springs can taken off, we don't need them and saves on shipping cost.

2. DO NOT remove nitrogen from shocks or wire them compressed together. We want them the same way they came off sled.

3. Newspaper seems to work well and is easy to get. Wrap each shock individually and then use crumpled sheets to pack tightly in carboard box.

4. Print off Ride Tech form from web page, fill out, put in box with shocks, and send out whatever method is easiest (UPS is good but U.S. mail has gotten better and is handy for many people.

5. Upon receiving shocks, we will look over your form, call if any questions, and perform needed work. We will contact you for payment info and shocks will be sent back.

6. Re-install shocks and Enjoy the Ride!!

Ride Tech Packages and Shock Service:

When sending in shocks for normal service or to have a "Ride Tech" package installed, it will benefit everyone if you fill out Ride Tech info sheet completely and include with your shocks.

For normal shock service just basic info needed: Name, address, phone number, model, and year of sled.

For a Ride Tech package we need the rest of form filled out especially the comment section. This will tell us what you do not like about your current set-up and will help us to give you the best possible ride. Be honest about your riding ability and style.

We service many of the magazine sleds and when filling out the form they always consider themselves aggressive. In reality we have learned they are really moderate riders, as they tend to complain of stiffness in the aggressive settings. These are the guys who ride and write the test reports and do the Spring Rode Reports. They are good riders but not what we would call aggressive, they want a softer ride as they spend most of their time on groomed trails racking up the miles and the rest of their work week behind a desk.

Ride Tech Service Rating:

We are going to modify our Ride Tech Info Sheet with the following change to "Rider Type":

Agressive: mostly standing

High Performance: standing and sitting

Moderate: mostly sitting

Easy Cruiser: touring/sitting

We feel this will help riders give a better rating of themselves and their style of riding. Most riders will be High performance to Moderate as this describes the bulk of the trail riders. If you have a better description of riders, let us know. We are always open to suggestions to help the sport.

Accelerator Clutch Kits: Best Value in Clutching

We are constantly working on complete clutch kits that use Heavy Hitter clutch arms. Each kit is designed and tested to individual models so all components may not be the same in every kit (the reason prices vary). Kits are designed with our cross country background in mind, we need more everywhere but has to be able to work in a wide variety of conditions. The tunability of the Heavy Hitters allow the kits to fit not only different weight riders but also can be changed to match any mods that may be done to sled. Most people will install kit, feel and see a big improvement, and ride it. For those that like to play the tuning game, adjust the arms to get the ultimate performance out of your sled whether drag racing, radar running, or trail riding. These kits are not the cheapest on the market but they offer the most bang for the buck of anything out there.

Heavy Hitters:

There seems to be some confusion on the market with adjustable weights. Others have attempted to make a copy of the Heavy Hitter with fancy ad lingo, undercut pricing, and problems with reliability. This issue has caused primary clutches to break, secondary clutches to get torn up, clutch guards ripped apart, and hoods/belly pans shredded. People then get the idea that an adjustable cam arm is not very durable.

WRONG!!

We have spin tested the Heavy Hitters up to 18,000 rpm (nobody else has done this) with no failures. We also offer the ability to tune for low, mid, and top end in a quick and easy fashion. Don't get confused with similar names or marketing slogans. The Heavy Hitter is the "original" and still the one others attempt to copy.

We have setups that are trail tested and work. These setups we offer are not what a snocross or drag racer would use but those racers are using the same arm with different settings to match their need for performance. That is the benefit and advantage of the Heavy Hitter, it can be adjusted to match YOUR type of riding. Bolt in our setup and ride worry free for thousands of miles (we have some Heavy Hitters that have over 10,000 miles on them and still going). Adjustments do not have to be made unless you are the type of rider who is looking for a bit more and always keeps tinkering. Heavy Hitters will allow you to find that last bit. Put the Power to the Ground!

Heavy Hitters and altitude setups:

We get riders asking if they can use their Midwest (lower altitude) setup for higher altitudes when taking a trip to the mountains. No, it will not work BUT your Heavy Hitters can be adjusted to work at the higher elevations. Simply find out what the manufacturer recommends for the altitude you will be going to. Determine the % difference between this cam arm weight and the stock weight it came with. If it would be 10% then you just have to lighten each adjustment hole of the Heavy Hitter by the same 10%. The power curve of the motor doesn't change so weight is still needed in the same location but horsepower is down so less weight is needed. We have done this many times and it is a simple and easy adjustment. Another advantage of the Heavy Hitter, same arms can be used from low to high altitudes with their ease of adjustability.

Ski-doo 600XP:

Clutching is done and we got a harder pull from bottom through the mid-range. Lower belt temps as the Heavy Hitter arms grab the belt harder preventing belt slippage. Good kit, check it out under the Clutching Section, look for the Accelerator Kit AKSK608.

Ski-doo 800XP:

Our Heavy Hitter arms showed about 2 mph gain and 2 lengths in 1,000 feet. This was with the arms alone and everything else stock. Definitely a good gain as this setup would work in pulling conditions on or off trail.

Accelerator Kit (#AKSK808) showed us another gain, 3 mph and over 3 lengths in 1,000 feet. This will beat your buddy with low engagement, like stock or better backshift, and great performance everywhere. This will work in all trail conditions, a bit more weight thrown at it and would make a drag setup.

Put on a pair of TPI valves, a pipe into the stock can for low noise, and you would have a sleeper.

We now have a single pipe, y-pipe, and silencer can for this model. Flat black or ceramic coated. Good boost in power and no fuel re-calibration is needed. Check it out under Exhaust Section.

Ride Tech for the Ski-doo XP's:

More time was spent on the suspension than we thought would be necessary. The ride is mixed up, harsh in the small stuff, bottoms in the bigger hits, and doesn't steer. We have it dialed in now for aggressive trail riders, sharper steering and no bottoming of front end, rear is firm on the washboard yet will soak up the big hits without bottoming. Lets you run through the rough at scary speeds yet stays straight and true. See Suspension Section for complete XP details as our Ride Tech Stage 2 will work on the 600 or 800 sleds.

Ski-doo Fox Shocks:

We have been selling Fox replacement shocks for Ski-doo as many models use a non-rebuildable HPG unit (throw away). We can offer a better ride with shocks that have easy access to parts and are economical to service and/or repair. We have a set of Fox Floaters on our XP600 with some Zero Pro on the rear skid. A bit of re-valving got them to handle the rough trails.

We are offering a new program with these shocks as everyone rides a bit differently. Purchase a set of shocks and ride them for a break-in period of at least 300-500 miles. Send them back in for a first time service to get rid of the fish oil that comes in them and get the contaminents out. We will re-valve them for FREE. Great deal, you pay for the basic oil change and we will pick up the cost of the valves and the re-valving. Get the best ride you can out of these great handling sleds.

TPI Valves:

TPI valves are a good way to gain some power by letting the airbox breathe better. They can be closed off in super cold weather so jetting isn't an issue.

Ski-doo sleds respond well to them. A couple of valves in the new XP800R showed 3-4 hp. That is a lot of power for less than $40.

Polaris FST Turbo:

We have found that Heavy Hitters work great in the FST four stroke Polaris. Less belt burning in low end, better trail manners in the 15-40 mph range, eliminates hesitation, and give throttle response. Easy bolt in performance upgrade for this turbo charged 4 stroke. See Heavy Hitter setup for complete setup.

Silencer Cans:

We do carry cans for the Ski-doo and Polaris sleds. Our cans are baffled to keep noise down and performance up. Straight thru glass packs are not only noisy but always show a loss of horsepower. Who spends money to have less power?? We see claims of 4-8 hp and the cans just bolt on with no fuel adjustments needed. You cannot gain that much power and not need more fuel. The old adage of seems too good to be true holds true in this scenario. We see a good silenced can with proper back pressure as good for about 1 hp. plus weight savings.

Single Pipes:

A good single pipe is good for 2-5 hp in real world riding. It takes a set of twin pipes to get over this and then the problems set in with fit and fussy running. A pipe will work fine into a stock can but can see a small improvement with a matching lightweight can. Jetting is usually necessary with the pipe, some of our newer pipes that fit EFI or SDI models get by without jetting as the stock system has some richness built in and the gain is to the lower side but gain is noticeable and there is a weight savings to boot. A good value as part of the total package, power, good clutching, and a suspension to match make the best overall sled.
